August 24, 2009, Rochester: Today, the campaign of At Large City Council
candidate Harry Davis announced its endorsement by the Green Party of Monroe
County.

Co-Chair of the Green Party of Monroe County, Bonnie Cannan, said of Davis:
“We appreciate and welcome the interest you have shown in the Green Party. It is
our belief that what is missing today is a truly progressive political vision working
for an option that does not seek to join the corporate run governance. There is a
great need for grass roots democracy at the local level where the people live.”

“We hope to support you in your campaign efforts. Please send us information
about the ways you will be contacting other supporters and getting out the vote in
the late summer and fall. Thank you and stay Green.”

Davis, who supports President Obama’s nationwide High Speed Rail initiative,
particularly the Empire Corridor from Buffalo to Albany, says:

“High Speed Rail (HSR) is the biggest economic development for upstate New
York in 150 years, since the Erie Canal.”

“In the post ren square and pre-High Speed Rail world, Rochester must look for
green ways to develop its downtown and make Rochester a truly world-class city
in the 21st Century.”

On July 31, 2009, the New York Coalition Statement of Regional Impact High
Speed Rail (HSR) was released.

This report was signed by Rochester Mayor Robert J. Duffy.

"The New York Rail Plan will enhance the region’s Essential New York
Initiative®, a unique and innovative plan to accelerate the transition of the Central
Upstate region of New York State to a knowledge-based
economy." the Coalition Statement said.

“President Obama has $8 billion in stimulus money to be released this year for
High Speed Rail. There are 10 rail corridors across the USA eligible to receive this
money. The Albany-Buffalo corridor, with Rochester sitting in the middle, must
receive its share of these funds.” Davis said.

Davis, an avid Obama supporter and Democratic candidate for Rochester City
Council, wants to work together with other leaders in the region towards an
intermodal transportation facility that benefits all taxpayers.

If Davis is elected to the Rochester City Council, he pledges to work with
Congresswoman Louise Slaughter and Rochester Mayor Robert J. Duffy to make
HSR a reality in Rochester.

“We can't risk the rail running along the thruway with no stop downtown, but that
is exactly what will happen if Republicans like Maggie Brooks keep playing
politics and the train runs through the south suburbs like Victor and Henrietta.”
says Davis.

Citing data that shows the benefit to those municipalities along the thruway, such
as their retail and housing development over the past half century, Davis is
convinced that we must not make the same mistake twice.
